New York City has established the nation's first municipal office dedicated to digital assets, signaling a strategic push to cement its position as a global crypto hub. Mayor Eric Adams, a vocal Bitcoin proponent, signed Executive Order 57 to create the initiative under Chief Technology Officer Matthew Fraser.

The office will be led by blockchain policy expert Moises Rendon, who will assemble industry advisors to shape crypto policies and coordinate cross-agency projects. "We're embracing the technologies of tomorrow," Adams declared, framing the move as both an economic growth engine and a financial inclusion tool for underbanked communities.

First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro emphasized New York's intent to stay "ahead of the curve," while CTO Fraser positioned the initiative as part of a "bold vision" to make NYC the world's cryptocurrency capital. The office will serve as a bridge between City Hall and blockchain enterprises, working in tandem with financial regulators.
